This artistic majolica plate from 40 cm in diameter born from the meeting between art, myth and tradition of Apulian ceramics.
Entirely hand-modeled and hand-painted in the Grottega laboratories, depicts the Fall of Icarus, a classic theme of Greek myth made immortal by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in his sixteenth-century painting.
The composition maintains the poetic sense of the scene – the figure of Icarus disappearing into the waters while the world continues its course – but is reinterpreted through a turquoise monochrome palette, which recalls ancient Mediterranean majolica and enhances the nuances of the manual brushstroke.
Each specimen is unique, signed and numbered, and can be displayed as wall artwork
